BALANCE is one physical skill/ability that can have a huge impact on quality of your life. The level of balance is directly related to the level of confidence, stability, security, and freedom. You can see that physical balance is linked to emotional balance.
Balance can be affected by any of these factors: strength, flexibility, vestibular system (inner ear function), vision, somatosensory/proprioceptive system, and coordination.
Aging, injury, and/or disease that affects these factors can impact your balance negatively.
With my experiences in physical therapy, athletic training, martial arts, and the Feldenkrais Method(TM), I bring in a unique approach to improve your balance and your life.
What I mean by “a unique approach” is that I integrate strength, flexibility, vestibular system, vision, and somatosensory system with coordination training instead of working with each system individually.
It’s much easier to understand this by experiencing it, so why don’t you try this?
Here’s a video of one simple coordination exercise to improve your balance:
*Before you do this exercise, check your balance in standing: 1) Stand with feet shoulder width apart. 2) Stand with feet together. 3) Tandem stance (one foot in front of the other).
After you did this exercise, check your balance again in 3 positions above and notice if your balance has changed.
